A Magical Ending: The Bonstelle Closes its 59th Season

Experience magic at the Bonstelle Theatre April 16 – 25 as Detroit’s Premier Undergraduate Theatre presents Pippin with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson. Follow Prince Pippin, son of Charlemagne, as he journeys out to find true fulfillment. Battles, temptation and political drama ensue but Pippin still remains unsatisfied – or so he thinks.  Don’t miss this magical musical with songs by the composer of Disney’s Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Wicked.

Director Michael J. Barnes has added, exclusively for this production and courtesy of the composer himself, a song created by Schwartz that was not in the original production. Choreographer Nira Pullin and set designer Jeffrey Strange bring this fantasy to life with modern concepts and bold design. The stage will transform throughout the show, revealing trap doors and other magical surprises while the full orchestra remains stage level, truly creating a live musical production unlike any other performed on the Bonstelle stage.

Cast includes George Abud (Grosse Pointe Woods/Male Player), Greg Bailey (Vista, CA/Charles), Steve Xander Carson (Detroit, MI/Male Player), Katrina Carson (Southfield, MI/Female Player), Zachary S.
