On Thursday April 7th from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and Friday April 8th from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. the Louise Heck-Rabi Playwrighting competition will commence in the Hilberry Rehearsal Space. BFA and MFA actors will rehearse and perform the staged readings over the two day competition under the direction of WSU Faculty.
The student playwriting competition is in honor of Louise Heck-Rabi, who was a multi-talented writer, devoted librarian, and assistant professor at Wayne State University. As a writer and teacher, Heck-Rabi was interested in encouraging her students to produce original work. As part of her efforts to support other Michigan playwrights, Heck-Rabi’s estate gives to Wayne State University’s English Department an endowed dramatic writing scholarship.
